Townhouses at Warrendine Court
Although the original townhouse designs at Warrendine Court were well-planned even by contemporary standards, with such 'good bones' that no major alterations would ever be required, over the years many owners have renovated and made minor adjustments to their interior layouts, to suit their own needs and preferences. For example, some townhouses now have their separate bathrooms and toilet rooms combined into one larger space with a single doorway. Some of the original standard shower-over-bath arrangements have been replaced by a walk-in shower - a modification that's preferable for more elderly or disabled residents, but not so appealing to young families looking to join the community as townhouse owners or renters. Some of the original C-shaped kitchens, at the heart of the open-plan living and dining areas, have been changed into galley-style kitchens at cost of the original partitions providing a hallway and room for more storage in the original design. However successful or otherwise the layout-tweaking by individual owners, here we pay respect to the townhouse designs as originally intended:
When an older residence is in good basic shape, a little cosmetic renovation can bring it right up-to-date. Here is an example of an original dining area at Warrendine Court - BEFORE and AFTER its contemporary make-over. Note that this townhouse is unusual for having its smaller side-yard flowing out from the dining room.
